The True Vine

I recently studied through the I AM statements Jesus makes in the book of John. Finding I AM by Lysa TurKurst is one of my favorite studies. Not because of the study book, though it is good, not because of the video teachings, though they are amazing.

But because I feel like I am sitting at the feet of Jesus listening to Him tell me Who He Is.

I liked it so much when I read through it on my own the first time that I led a small group through it this fall.

This time the True Vine captured my heart.

“I AM the vine, you are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing -John 15:5

With all the demands on me, I often find myself saying “I can’t do all of this” and feeling like I am just not enough. I am overwhelmed, worn out and just when I think I can’t take any else more something else gets added.

I crumble under the pressure of my life. But, it is here on my knees that I need to be, because, it is here on my knees that I pray.

God’s word tells me;

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13)

God connected these two passages in my heart.

I am right when I say “I can’t do all of this”. I crumble under the pressure of my life.

It is only as I ABIDE in the Ture Vine that God gives me the strength, His strength, to walk this life.

It is only through Him

Without Him, I can do nothing

In moments I cry out to Him my Father wipers

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
-2 Corinthians 12:9a

Father thank you that you walk with me every step of this life. That when this life gets too much for me you give me the strength to keep going. Teaching me how great is your grace and your love for me. As I learn to sit at your feet and abide in you.

-Amen

How do you take time to Abide in the True Vine?
