Faith Of A Child

Faith Of A Child

My son is 7 and is going through this phase is being very aware of is his world. Sometimes having little hurt feelings, he also deals with high anxiety and even fear.

Most recently he has had bad dreams. As he wakes up and comes to me. One night as I walked him back to his bed he asked me “mom, can you pray and ask Jesus to give me good dreams?”.

“of course I can…” I said

I did just that, I prayed over him that Jesus would give my sweet little boy good dreams while he slept.

He quickly fell back asleep.

Since that night he will often ask me if I will pray he has good dreams or tells me he prayed that he will have good dreams that night.

This has touched my heart.

We read Bible stories and pray with our kids each night before bed. It is such a special time with them.

Like any Mom, I wonder how much they are getting out of it.

I like to think that this time has taught him how to pray.

I love that I get to see his childish faith.

Childish in a good way, so trusting and wanting to come to Jesus with everything, even his dreams while he sleeps.

There is something we can all learn from this little boy.

There is nothing too small that God doesn’t care.

Where did we ever get the idea that something is too small for God to care about it?

I am not sure but I can tell you that I am guilty of believing it.

David’s Example

I’ve been reading through the Psalms and David often pours out his heart to God. I love that I have this example that shows me I can and should do the same.

Yes, our God is the one who calls each star by name (Psalm 147:4)

but He is also the God who calls me His Child (1 John 3:1)

and knows the number of hairs on my head (Luke 12:7; Matthew 10:30).

One of the things I love most about reading David’s Palms is that pours out his heart to God and will admit he is in a hard place, afraid and even discouraged…

but, before he ends he always turns and reminds himself of one of God’s promises and who our God is.

Just like Jonathan is doing when he is asking Jesus to give him good dreams while he sleeps.

He may not know it but he is reminding himself that God is both big enough handle this and close enough to care.

Jesus tell us to come to Him like a little child with our faith (Luke 18:16-17)

I am a visual person I like to see these reminders. I have some verses and a few quotes that remind me of who My God is and His promises written out and pinned next to my side of the bed.

What is something you do to encourage yourself in the Lord?

and if you are not making this a habit what is something you can start doing?

I am a girl who loves music. I don’t know anything about just love it. Here is a song I want to share with you today. A great reminder of who we are; a child of God

Father thank you that you are God. That you are the one who made the stars and call them by name and You are the same God who walks with me through this life. When I forget, and you know that I do, remind me that nothing is too big for you to handle but that nothing is too small for you to care about either. You know the very number of hairs on my head. May I follow the example of David and bring every care to you but like him may I cling on to your promises before I rise from my prayer. Thank you for showing me what child-like faith is in my son. Thank you for walking with me…

~In Jesus name, I pray, Amen
