A new view
This summer I got to see something that touched my heart deeply.
My friend invited my kids to VBS at her church. The kids had something to do and I got to spend the week with my friend, yay!
This VBS came not long after I learned that all 3 of my kids were headed for school in the fall.
I got to watch them with a new set of eyes.
I watched how they interacted with teachers and classmates.
I am one of those crazy moms who spies on her kids in class because I miss them.
I popped in and out of Grace’s class to make sure she was behaving and to help her if needed.
On the 3rd day, I was sitting with Grace and another little girl.
The girl began talking to me she said “when you’re not I class with us I help Grace” and she did just that.
I would watch (spy) as she had Grace sit with her, walked with her to the next class and helped her when she needed it.
This literally brought tears to my eyes.
This is the first time that I had ever seen anyone, other than her sister and brother, love Grace like this.
Prayers of a Mom
I began to pray “God, send Grace a friend like this in school”.
It is easier for me to believe that God made all that I see and more, that He is all-powerful!
But, to think that this all-powerful God walks with me, that is the most amazing thing.
I am not the only one who thinks this is amazing David writes “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”
1). Jesus answers this “He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out” (2). He also tells us “You did not choose me, but I chose you” (3).
David found that God is mindful of us amazing but he also writes
“In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my request before you and wait expectantly” (4).
David knew that God heard him and so would bring his request to God.
He also does something I find amazing; he “waits expectantly” (5).
He knows God hears him and he expects God to answer him.
We don’t pray to a god who does not hear or answer. Our God not only hears every word He answers us.
Jesus tells us “ask and you will receive, and your joy will be full” (6).
This does not mean we get everything we want even Jesus prayed “Father, if you are willing… …yet not my will, but yours be done” (7).
We are to follow His example here.
Sometimes the answer He gives isn’t what we want but it is always what is best.
Let us bring our requests to our God knowing that He cares and hears every word.
Last week I met with Grace’s teachers. She is enjoying being in school, the kids are sweet to her especially the girls. Then the teacher went on to tell me about one little girl who had just taken to Grace. She has Grace sit with her, walks with her, sits and reads with her in their little classroom library.
That day the teacher said the girl was reading with Grace, she would point to and read one word and Grace would repeat it. The little girl was so excited she ran up to their teacher and told her “I’m teaching Grace to read!”.
I left that meeting with my heart filled. This was exactly what I had been praying for! This was the answer to my prayer for my daughter!
This is God’s grace, His undeserved favor in granting my request and favor in blessing Grace with this friend.
These two sweet little girls have been such a blessing to my mama’s heart in loving my daughter.
These are 8-year-old girls, no one told them to come alongside Grace they just did.
They don’t know or understand why Grace would need help. They just love her for who she is and are there to help her when she needs it.
Why is it that we find it so amazing when we see God answer our prayers?
I know He has the power and is able to do all things.
I think I find it most amazing that this all-powerful God, the one who made and sustains all things, knows and loves me.
The great I AM walks with me.
Jesus, thank you that you are the all-powerful creator who made all things and you still walk me through this life, I come to you and call you Father. Thank you for hearing every word I pray and even the prayers that have no words. Thank you for blessing Grace with a very special friend who loves her. This brings such joy to my heart. I know Grace is your’s and that you care for her far more than I ever could. Thank you for answering prayer. To you be the all the glory!
